Get the Most Out of Yes Day Book with Reading Comprehension Questions & Reading Strategies.

'Yes Day' is a celebrated children's book written by award-winning author and illustrator, Amy Krouse Rosenthal. With its interactive illustrations and fun, family-friendly story line, it's easy to see why many families find 'Yes Day' a beloved read-aloud activity for teachers/parents and students/kids. But have you ever thought about how to maximize your kids' reading comprehension of the story and its moral lessons? With the right reading comprehension questions and strategies, you can get the most out of 'Yes Day' and ensure that your kids are retaining the story's key points. Use facts, questions, and reading strategies to make the most out of your next 'Yes Day' story time. Let's get started!  I would suggest to do the strategies and reading comprehension questions the day before or as a unit for the week. Yes day in the jar could culminate your week!

There are slips of paper for the students to fill out for their "Yes Day" question.  You can put them all in a jar the day before or before they go to their special. Filter through the ones you can do or are able to do and pull out the ones you can't do. You may even put some of your own in they didn't think of. You can also put them in order to when you want to do these.  Don't let the students see them and you can even make stuff up as you pull them out! So fun!

Some of the options my kiddos put in were:

1. Can we have extra recess? Yes! There were several of these so what was fun was when they came in from recess, I pulled another recess one.  I read it, said yes, and line up we are going back outside! :)

2. Can we have play games on our computer? We have clever so that means the games are all educational. Win-Win!! Yes!!

3. Can we eat lunch in the classroom?  Yes!! (If you can't or you just need a minute, pull this one out.)

4. I put in this one.  Can we play, Duck, Duck, Goose outside? Yes!!

5.  Can we read outside? Yes!!

6. Can we have no homework? Yes!!
