9 Strategies to Use with If You Give a Dog a Donut

Here are 9 Strategies to Use with If You Give a Dog a Donut:

1.  Roll the dice and play "I Spy a Vocabulary Word" or answer the comprehension question. There is a response sheet if you choose.


2.  Read the book and answer the comprehension questions.  There is also an illustration sheet.


3.  Cut out the comprehension book marks or question cards at the guided reading table and discuss. There is a response sheet as well.


4.  There are many comprehension strategies you can choose from.  I use the one we are working on for the week.  There is a Venn Diagram for Text to Text.  Strategies also included are Text to Self, Text tow World, and Summarize.


5.  More comprehension included events, inferring, visualizing, and questioning.


6.  Fun grammar sheets are included.


7.  You can put a game at your comprehension, or vocabulary station.  This is in color and black and white.  


8.  This is a fun color by vocabulary word. These words are taken from the book.


9.  Finish up with a comprehension test.  Students can look back in the book to find the answers.  Included is a running record if the student can read instructionally, or independently at this level.
